The Research and Development (R&D) Cell is a dedicated institutional body established to promote, facilitate, and strengthen research, innovation, and scholarly activities among faculty members, postgraduate students, undergraduate students, and healthcare professionals. The Cell serves as a catalyst for creating a vibrant research ecosystem that encourages scientific inquiry, innovation, evidence-based practice, and academic excellence.
The R&D Cell provides comprehensive guidance and support throughout the research process, including identification of research problems, protocol development, ethical approval, funding applications, data analysis, scientific writing, publication, patent facilitation, and dissemination of research findings. It actively promotes a culture of quality research through regular workshops, training programmes, seminars, journal clubs, research review meetings, and faculty development initiatives.
The Cell works in close coordination with the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC), IQAC, academic departments, and external research organizations to ensure that research activities are conducted in accordance with ethical, scientific, and regulatory standards. It also encourages interdisciplinary and collaborative research, innovation, and translational studies aimed at addressing regional and national healthcare challenges.
The R&D Cell plays a pivotal role in facilitating intramural and extramural funded projects, promoting student research initiatives, supporting participation in scientific conferences, and enhancing research publications in reputed journals. Special emphasis is placed on research integrity, plagiarism prevention, intellectual property rights (IPR), innovation, and responsible conduct of research.
Through its various initiatives, the Research and Development Cell strives to nurture a culture of creativity, critical thinking, innovation, and excellence, thereby contributing to the advancement of medical science, healthcare delivery, and societal well-being.

7. Forming Academic Misconduct Panel (AMP) for strict prevention and action about unethical research practices like plagiarism.
Activities of the Research and Development (R&D) Cell
- Conduct monthly Research and Development Review Meetings to monitor the progress of ongoing research projects, dissertations, theses, innovations, and funded studies.
- Organize Research Methodology Workshops, Biostatistics Workshops, Scientific Writing Workshops, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training programmes, and Faculty Development Programmes for faculty members and students.
- Provide guidance and mentorship for the preparation and submission of research proposals to funding agencies such as ICMR, MUHS, DST, DBT, CCRH, AYUSH, and other national and international organizations.
- Facilitate undergraduate and postgraduate research activities, including ICMR Short-Term Studentship (STS), MUHS Summer Internship Programmes, research projects, dissertations, and thesis work.
- Conduct regular training programmes on Research Ethics, Publication Ethics, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Patent Filing, Innovation Management, and Responsible Conduct of Research.
- Organize National and State-Level Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes, Research Competitions, and Scientific Events.
- Promote interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and collaborative research among various departments, healthcare institutions, universities, and research organizations.
- Establish and maintain a Research and Development Museum/Repository showcasing institutional publications, funded projects, patents, innovations, awards, and other research achievements.
- Conduct plagiarism awareness programmes and facilitate plagiarism screening of dissertations, theses, manuscripts, research reports, and academic documents.
- Support faculty and students in manuscript preparation, journal selection, publication processes, patent applications, and presentation of research findings at national and international scientific forums.
- Facilitate the registration, monitoring, and reporting of clinical studies, observational studies, public health research, and community-based research projects in compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements.
- Recognize and reward outstanding research and innovation through Annual Research Awards, Best Publication Awards, Best Research Project Awards, Innovation Awards, and Young Researcher Awards.
- Nominate and sponsor faculty members for advanced research training programmes, fellowships, workshops, and research capacity-building initiatives conducted by MUHS and other reputed institutions.
- Maintain research and innovation databases and periodically document institutional research outputs, publications, citations, grants, patents, copyrights, and technology transfers.
- Collaborate with the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC), IQAC, academic departments, and external agencies to promote quality research, innovation, and adherence to ethical standards.
- Encourage innovation, translational research, evidence-based healthcare practices, entrepreneurship, and community-oriented research addressing regional, national, and global health priorities.
- Facilitate awareness and training programmes on research funding opportunities, startup initiatives, innovation ecosystems, and commercialization of research outcomes.
- Promote a culture of inquiry, creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning that contributes to academic excellence, healthcare advancement, and societal development.
