Academic Cell
Introduction
The Academic Cell is the central coordinating body of the Medical College responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and documenting all academic activities in accordance with the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). The Cell ensures effective curriculum delivery, academic quality assurance, student progression, faculty development, and compliance with statutory requirements.
Objectives
- Ensure compliance with NMC and MUHS academic regulations.
- Coordinate and monitor undergraduate, postgraduate, and internship academic activities.
- Facilitate implementation of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME).
- Promote excellence in teaching-learning, assessment, and educational innovation.
- Monitor student academic performance and progression.
- Maintain academic records and documentation for inspections, audits, accreditation, and ranking purposes.
Functions
- Prepare and implement the Academic Calendar.
- Coordinate curriculum planning and CBME implementation.
- Monitor teaching schedules, attendance, and syllabus completion.
- Organize and review internal assessments and examination activities.
- Facilitate faculty development programs through the Medical Education Unit.
- Identify slow and advanced learners and coordinate remedial measures.
- Analyze academic performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct academic audits and review feedback from stakeholders.
- Promote educational research, innovation, and best practices.
- Maintain academic records, reports, and statutory compliance documents.
Meetings
The Academic Cell shall meet at least once every quarter and as required to review academic progress, assessment outcomes, curriculum implementation, and quality improvement initiatives.
